Hello, first time caller..
Have a tankless heater that I installed 2 years ago. It uses 3 20-Amp, 220 circuits. Been working great, then 6 months ago, started turning cold. In bathroom, with HOT water on only at sink, it will turn cold quickly, and never turn hot again. I can wait 5 minutes with it flowing, and just cold. If I turn on a 2nd sink hot water, it will finally turn hot. This lead me to believe that the flow sensor was bad. The manufacturer sent me a new flow sensor, but the problem still persists. I ran some tests, including FLOW and have no problems. Nothing has changed in my plumbing, and this is not a hot-water sandwich, or cold-flow cross over. Like I mentioned it can happen on the HOT water only (2 valves).
Seems to be getting worse, today the shower now goes cold. My wife is annoyed and I am lost.
I think there is a thermal cut-off that is kicking in, but not sure how to test, or how to get manufacturer to replace unit.

Thanks for listening.. Help!

In the two years, have you descaled the thing? Depending on your water hardness, that might need to be done more often than the annual recommendation.

If you have a clamp style ammeter, is the thing actually drawing current when you're running water? Does it have any internal fuses or fusible links? You sure all of the breakers are actually on and not tripped?

FWIW, 3x20A is about 3*20*240=14,400W, or 49.1KBTU...most of the better performing gas fired ones draw 199KBTU, or over 4x as much energy.
