The water supply to my refrigerator is a soft copper 1/8 nominal (1/4" OD) line coming through a hole in the drywall. Some previous owner added it at some point. It's kinked at the the wall and I'm worried it will eventually crack. Plus not great for flow. So I bought a wall box with a 1/4 turn valve. The valve has a 1/2" sweat fitting. I bought a 1/2 to 1/4 sweat adapter only to get home and realize that it's 1/4 nominal, so is actually 3/8" OD. I don't really want to have to wait to order 1/8 nominal sweat fittings and compression fitting make me nervous sealed in the wall.
Looks like 3/8 OD soft copper tube has an ID around 1/4". Could I just sweat the 3/8 OD tube directly to the 1/4 OD tube in my wall and then use the adapter I have?
Or would it be better to just use compression fittings?
Or should I order the actual 1/8 nominal coupler and adapter and do this later?
The rest of the 1/4 OD copper runs into the ceiling above my kitchen and down to the sink. I don't have access to it without cutting drywall or ripping out cabinets. Patching drywall behind the fridge is one thing, patching the popcorn ceiling is another level of pain.

UPDATE: I ended up buying some 3/8 tube and the 1/4 tube was not close enough to the ID of the 3/8 that I would feel comfortable soldering them. I ended up making my own swaging tool to expand the 1/4 in my wall so it was a good fit int the 3/8 and then sweating it all together. Leak tested good so I buttoned up the drywall.
