Can someone help me figure out how to replace my check valve/shutoff valve combo? I bought a quiet one with shutoff valve but can't figure out how to purge the water from the current valve without making a mess everywhere.

Normally the check valve can be removed while the shutoff is closed to prevent drain down.
That's not how yours is installed though. I don't know what they expected for the future replacement. Is that glued right to the shutoff valve?

I was hoping to put a bucket underneath and force open the valve to drain water but unfortunately there isn't enough clearance for me to do that. Do you have any recommendations on what I could do?

get a 1 gallon bucket, shut the valve, drill a hole through the top of the check valve, open valve, drain in bucket, shut valve, repeat.
just a thought.

Wet dry is the better option
