We have an older GE fridge model number TFX25PPZBWW that needs a new Thermostat part number WR09X599, however I can not find this thermostat anywhere, it seems to have been discontinued.
What I am looking for is potentially substituting this with a generic version. I just need it to work functionally and if the screws are different of the size is not exactly the same that is ok.
I also have found part number WR09X499, which seems to be similar but I am not sure if it will work.

Any help would be appreciated!

On the URL below, I found a "temperature control" part from your model number. Take a look at that but do not overlook the defrost timer. If the compressor is not turning on at all the defrost timer could be stuck in the defrost cycle. Regardless of the temperature of the frig, the compressor is turned off once or twice a day to allow the heating element at the evaporator coils to melt the ice that accumulates.
