Stuck open check valve in the well

There is one old school trick you can try to get that stuck open check valve to seat back again. This is worth trying for a DIY before you got to pull it up to fix it anyways. Get your drop pipe open first and lower a metal rod down the open drop pipe until you hit the check valve that is stuck open and give it a couple of taps with the metal rod to free it up again. Test to make sure it's working properly again.

On systems with large check valves I have dropped a 1' or 2' piece of 1" steel pipe down to weight the check valve and help it seal. But any of these things is just a temp fix because if the check valve stuck once, it is bad and needs to be replaced.
