Another question: Can anyone recommend a device (that doesn't cost hundreds of Dollars) that shows the tank water level?

You can make a low level detection system using an additional one of those float switches. But you may want a "pump down" switch for the alarm as apposed to a "pump up" switch you need for the well pump.
