Steam valve leak

the shut off valve for radiator is leaking....im gonna fix it just want to know if it could cause high pressure issues with the boiler?

The pressure on steam systems is limited by an adjustable pressuretrol switch on the boiler. Even if you capped off the steam output right at the boiler that control would still work. They should be set to something really low, like 0.5-0.75 psi cut-in, ~2-2.5 psi cut-out (unless the boiler is in the basement and you're on the 143 rd floor :) ). It's pretty common to find them cranked up to the "ridiculous" range by some unknowing homeowner or tech trying to compensate for sticky or clogged up system vents or /radiator vents. Read this.

Steam radiator valves are designed with an orifice/bypass that provides a drain path for the condensed water in the radiator. Be sure to install the appropriate type of valve.
