Spin Down Filter Before Moen Flo in This Case?

Hi everyone. I’m on municipal water and already have a whole house filtration system. I just got a Moen Flo auto shutoff valve and would like some opinions on whether or not to install a sediment filter before it. The whole filtration setup is in a small outdoor shed and I really don't have the room to put the existing 5 micron filter before the Flo.

Attached is a pic of my 5 micron big blue style sediment filter that was installed 12/24 and, as you can see, it’s pretty discolored. It actually only took about 4 weeks for it to turn this way. (It wouldn't let me upload the pic, so I had to add a Google Drive link.)

Would a spin down filter be a good idea to put before the Flo? If so, would a spin down style or wye strainer be best?

Thanks

If you were to put one of those, it would not be a spin down. Spin down is for when you have quite a bit of sand, and not the occasional grain.

I don't think it is necessary to put a filter prior to the MoenFlo with muni water
Thank you. On another note, I want to install a UV filter to use for emergencies. Is it always good practice to have a sediment filter before it or, like you said, being on municipal water it wouldn’t be necessary?

You should have a 5 micron or finer filter before UV. Otherwise a bacterium could hide behind a particle.
