I have a hand dug well that is 30 feet deep. The water line is 16 feet below the surface. We installed a new pump and a new tank right next to the well and it worked great. That is until someone stole the pump. :(

So, we decided to move the pump into the utility room, along with the tank. I bought the same model pump that had been stolen. It is a Rigid 1hp and it says it's rated for 25' deep wells. As I said, this pump worked great next to the well.

When we moved it into the utility room, it is now 30 feet from the well, and about two feet higher. So, it's pulling the water up the vertical the same distance, but we added about 30 feet of horizontal line.

The pump is running, but water only trickles out of the faucet, if at all.

I decided I need a bigger pump, one rated for 60 to 90 feet.

I'm hoping someone here can confirm my guess or give me some help with how to fix this problem.

Putting the pump back by the well is not an. option as there is no well house - yet. So, the utility room is where I need it to live.

Can someone please offer me some advice and or suggestions?

Thank you

A submersible pump would be better as it is out of sight. The tank and pressure switch can still go in the house. But your jet pump most likely has a suction leak in that 30' of pipe, which suction leaks are always a problem with jet pumps, but not submersibles.
