I recently performed a filter and membrane change on my 5-stage RO system. After flushing the cleaning solution out (drain and refill a few times), I turned everything back on again and let go overnight. The next morning the system was not actively running so it appeared that everything worked fine. Oddly though I had no water coming out at the faucet and the tank was empty. I verified that everything was hooked up correctly, that there were no kinks in any of the tubing and that any valves were in the open position. I turned the system back on and this time it ran for a few minutes and then the ASV tripped and shut the system off. I replaced the ASV with a backup one as well as the check valve. Same problem. Now, if I bypass the tank by either closing the valve on the tank or re-directing the clean water exiting the membrane through the check valve, it runs continuously. Even if I keep the tank closed and open the faucet...I still get a steady trickle. For some reason when the tank is open, the system shuts off. The tank does hold the typical 8 lbs of pressure. No leaks detected. Could the diaphram be failing or failed causing some sort of increased pressure or fluctuation which is fooling the ASV? Thanks in advance for your help!
