HI -

Soldered the last of 40 joints a few minutes ago, everything went great until this last one, the brass fitting for the tub filler. Some solder ran through the fitting and got on the threads.

It will connect to the filler with one of those male threaded on both ends fittings. Should I try to heat the fitting and thread the connector into it when hot even to get through the solder? I'll never need to remove the fitting. Or should I just cut the copper pipe, sweat a new fitting to a new pipe (upside down, so the solder can't run into the fitting) and splice that new set up in?

If option 2 how do I keep solder from running down into the joint again?

Thank you - you guys are great - searched this forum like 5 times today to answer questions.

I normally solder the drop ear fitting on the horizontal first.
If you're worried, it's best to fix it while the wall is open.

Terry thanks. Using your method occurred to me - right after I noticed the solder in the threads ;)
