I need to sink a replacement shallow well 35' to 50' for my cabin.

I intend to:

1) DIY
2) Use a hydraulic pounder
3) Use the driving well point method
4) Use a small 2" diameter inline submersible pump
5) Use a 2" well point (Largest I can find)

Question:

1) Can I use 3" pipe and a reducer with a 2" well point?

Loaded questions my friend. What kind of formation are you drilling through?

Please tell us about that 2 inch inline submersible pump. Is that one of those sampling pumps? If that works nicely, that could be good for those having problems with the deep jet pump wells.

Have you asked for a local budgetary price for a 4-inch PVC casing well with a pitless? Pitless would be a clearway/thruway type with a 4 inch well normally.

But with a pitless, no well winterizing. Would you be putting a pitless on your 2-inch well?
What does that pounder rent for

You can probably get by with a 1 1/4" sand point. The larger 2" would be better but also harder to drive. Hydraulic pounder is easier than doing it manually, but either will work. "Lower water level" concerns me as 24' deep is about as deep as you can do with a shallow well pump.
