Hi guys,

When replacing my electric submersible pump, I plan to use a simple pump cap because we will be adding a manual pump next spring and this cap is required. See attached for what this cap looks like...the electric pump drop will go through the port that has the white plastic plug. Note how it is offset from center. The manual pump will be hung at 100ft, electric pump @ 150ft.

Anyone ever installed on of these? I had planned to use cable guards up the entire drop pipe of the electric submersible but now I'm doubting that the simple pump drop pipe will fit past them. The Simple pump drop pipe are 1" sticks of PVC that are threaded together

How about using cable guards at bottom and then taping the wire to the drop pipe every ten feet all the way up above that? Im sort of worried about putting poly pipe in the offset hole and have the electric pump riding the edge of well bore.

thanks,

Drew

Below the 100' mark the well pump will probably center up just fine. If you use a flow inducer or shroud on the pump it will keep it from rubbing the casing. Cable guards or anything extra put down the well are just another possibility for a failure. Tape the wire to the pipe every 20' or so and don't put anything else down the well that isn't needed.
