This was supposed to be an easy, one-day DIY project. It has not gone that way. I'll spare you all the other foolishness.

I finally got to the last part, the shower escutcheon plate. And it doesn't fit the valve. It's "compatible with Moen Gibson Posi-Temp Shower/Tub 2510/2520/2570/2590 Pressure balanced Valves". Granted, I was flying a little blind here since there was no branding on the old escutcheon. The valve appears to be built up a bit, but I don't want to start tearing it apart blindly.

The image shows the original, the valve assembly, and the old escutcheon removed.

And because one issue isn't enough, the new escutcheon has two screw holes and the original does not. And I realize that I'll likely have to buy a different trim kit, so if there's a suggestion for that I'd be grateful.

Original build was in 2004.

Your shower valve is price pfister not Moen.
Look at home depot or lowes for a price pfister trim kit.
