Shower head leak

Our bathroom shower has had a slow leak for a while now. Yesterday, it became a much faster leak. My husband took off the shower head so we know the leak is coming from the pipe itself. He also took off both knobs to tighten them inside as much as possible. The shower is still leaking just as quickly. Any ideas what the problem could be or what more we can do to troubleshoot this situation?

Thanks so much! I'm so glad to have found this site.

We can probably help you more if we know the brand of the fixture that is installed. If you could post a picture, that would make it much easier, too. Hard to work blind! It could be as simple as needing new washers. The seats could be shot as well. If it is a cartridge type valve, the cartridge may need to be replaced or repaired. Can't tell you until we know what you have!

Thanks so much for responding. I'm happy to post a picture. Sorry, I don't mean to sound dumb, but I'm not sure how to post a picture on this BB. If you tell me how to do it, I'll post one immediately.

Thanks!

Below the box where you typed your entry, there are some menus - there's one labeled attach files. Take the pic at low resolution, and, if necessary, crop it so it only shows what you need to send. It can't be uploaded if it is over (I think) 51K.
