I have decided this is the year that I will finally get central air for my house.
What I have not decided is if I should replace my furnace at the same time.
Yeah, it's almost as old as I am, but it also works perfectly fine.
I am in NE Ohio, in a 2000 sq ft, 2-story 1890's house with original plaster and lathe walls and no insulation in the walls. I have insulated the attic a bit. Will be adding more once I finally replace the last circuit of knob & tube left in the house. The windows are double-paned aluminum, installed in 1970.
I mention this, as I know a new furnace will be more efficient, but I don't think the savings would really give me much ROI.
Looking for thoughts and opinions on keeping my 58 year old furnace.
