Share drain between Standpipe and Lav?

I am moving my washer and re-plumbing the standpipe and adding a sink. My current plan is to have the sink drain straight down like the standpipe is currently and tie into the 3" line running in that joist cavity in the basement. But then I got thinking it would be simpler to tie into the drain for the standpipe as proposed in the picture. I am also planning on running a vent on the lav. just like I'm doing on the standpipe and will tie them all together 6" above the flood rim of the standpipe. So my questions are:

Could I tie into the standpipe drain as proposed below or do I need to continue straight down to the main drain as originally planned?
If I can tie in to the standpipe, should I still make the lav drain have its own vent of the trap arm or can it share the vent on the standpipe?

Green represents vents and the red represents the proposed drain connection.

Thanks.

I can't make heads or tails of your description.

Can you take another pic standing back, zoomed out a bit more?

And please use blue painter's tape or colored post-its to show us where you want the 2 drain roughs to be.

Do not modify the new pic with extra artwork.

As it is shown the sink has a wet vent and you can not wet vent the sink with a clothes washer. Both fixtures need a vent in this case. You can wet vent two bathroom groups on the same floor in WV but a washer and laundry sink are not part of a bathroom group.

Also the p-trap should not be in the wall for the sink.

I would put a y for the sink waste, below the sani-tee for the washer and come up and over to where you want the sink and put in a sani-tee. Then take vents up for both fixtures and tie them together 42 inches or higher and up and out.

New further out pic, no markings. I'm not sure how just putting tape where I want the connections helps versus drawing it but that is what you asked for.

Smooky, how is the proposed connection a wet vent? Does the vent not start at the top of the sanitee and from the bottom of the sanitee down is just a drain? I thought a wet vent was when a section of pipe is acting as a drain and a vent. That would not be the case here if the lav had it's own vent as drawn in the pic. Thanks for the quick replies....

Thanks Smooky, thats what I was hoping I could do. I will put in a combo tee-wye below the laundry sanitee and come over to the sink area keeping a 1/4" slope and put in another 1.5" sanitee and vent out the top of it. And no I was not planning to put the trap for the sink in the wall.

standardairconditioner, I think I know why you are confused now. I have already moved the standpipe. What you are seeing in the pic is the new location. The proposed connections are tying in a lavatory to the right of the standpipe drain in the next wall cavitiy over. The left piece of blue tape is where I am wanting to tap into for the lav. The right piece of tape is where the lav. connection would be in the wall for the p-trap underneath the vanity.

Yes that was one of my proposals. The other would be the exact same thing but adding a vent to the lav. using a sanitee if I could not share the standpipe vent like you have it drawn. By the way, what program are you using to draw those nice illustrations?

Smooky, isn't a tee-wye the same as a y with an 45" street elbow on it? What's the problem with the tee-wye? Please don't take my questions as argumentative, I am just wanting to learn :)

Here the the washer and the sink drain have seperate vents

In post 10 the sink has a wet vent. Both fixtures must have a dry vent.

Then, your original idea from your first pic, and confirmed in the 3d illustration, is valid and will work.

You've already glued in your pvc, so just chop where you want in the vertical to connect your lav. The horizontal of the lav is wet vented. You can run horizontal wet vents well around 5 or 6 feet from a vent.

The single vertical vent is fine. You do not need a dedicated vent for the lav.

It won't matter in your case if you add a Tee-Wye, or chop everything off and redo it with a Double Tee-Wye. The only thing a Double Tee-Wye gives is less parts used, and helpful when you are doing something like a double lav that need a common height with the wall's vertical in the middle. That is somewhat your case BUT you have two different things at different heights.

(Note: Any 3d app can do the illustration I made, I did not use a specific plumbing 3d design app which would be a lot easier.)

Standardairconditioner he is in West Virginia, USA it is best if he has to go by those rules

The WV code allows a wet vent for a bathroom group. A washer and laundry sink are not part of a bathroom group as per the WV plumbing code definitions.
Any combination of fixtures within. two bathroom groups located on the same floor level are permitted to be vented by a wet vent

BATHROOM GROUP. A group of fixtures consisting of a water closet, lavatory, bathtub or shower, including or excluding a bidet, an emergency floor drain or both. Such fixtures are located together on the same floor level.

Smooky, thanks for the pics. standardairconditioner I appreciate your help as well. Looks like I need to do the separate vent. WV is under the IPC and IRC as far as I can tell, and I remember now seeing that definition of a bathroom group in my research. This is not a typical bathroom, lol.

Just for my own understanding Smooky, I still would like to know why you suggested a wye (which I assume you would use with a 45 street elbow) vs. my suggestion of a tee-wye. The pics you provided both seem to show the use of Sani-tee's.... So what would be best and why if you don't mind me asking? Thanks again.

Also see https://terrylove.com/forums/index.php?threads/double-fixture-tee-or-double-sanitary-tee.22539/

The separate santees would be better to prevent the washer from sending water up the sink drain.

A santee or double fixture fitting has a path for air to go to/from the trap arm and the vent.http://data:image/jpeg;base64,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 Reach4, I was just looking over your drawing again that show a wye and 1/8 bend being restricted due to blockage of airflow. Wouldn't that only apply if the vertical drain was acting as a wet vent for the lower branch coming in due to the lower branch not having it's own vent? In my situation that lavatory that will come in below the current sani-tee on the standpipe drain and will have it's own vent. Just curious...
