I have a 1.5 inch shallow tub drain that I removed because the stopper broke. It is solid brass and screws into a brass elbow below the tub. I have been to Lowes, Home Depot, and Ferguson's plumbing supply and all of the replacement drains bottom out, due to the drain elbow, before they seat on the tub.

I could put the old one back in, but I can't find a replacement stopper that fits. It does not have threads, so I think I need to insert a post with threads before I pit the drain back in.

Can anyone point me in the right direction to fix this? I bought a simple rubber stopper, but want something permanent that won't disappear.

Hey, wait a minute.

This is awkward, but...
