Installing steam generator outlet and don't have enough depth to to put normal blocking. What else can I use? Any pics/examples?

Thanks

Are you talking about that 1/2" wide strapping sold by a roll or is there something more substantial? Do bix box stores carry it?

bracket

That material is too thin to hold anything. You need something like Sioux Chief 525-18 support bracket. The holes are small enough so you can use screws rather than bolts. You might also consider a "high ear" drop ear elbow which has the tab right above the pipe opening i.e., right behind the sheet rock, so conventional blocking could be used.
