Salty water

I presume the salty water is only the day after a regen, but after you have run a day's worth of water, the salt gets cleared.

If that is not the case, your TDS (total dissolved solids) in your raw water may be very high.

You could actually get some use out of an inexpensive TDS meter.

Your BD value may be too low, if the saltiness is only the next day.

What are your settings?

Salty water right after a regen usually means the brine isn't being rinsed out fully - check the rinse cycle setting on the 5600SXT and make sure the drain line flow control isn't clogged, since a restricted drain shortens the rinse. Also confirm the injector is clean so the brine draw completes properly. If the salt taste persists between regens, a TDS test of the raw water will tell you whether the softener is the culprit at all.
