Hello, thank you for stopping and reading my post.

I purchased a home where the tub had a rusty and corroded tub drain. I used a removal tool and when it finally came loose the elbow drain appears to have broken with it...the pictures of the elbow drain are what’s under the tub - have not been able to get it close to the drain....

Is this going to require moving of the tub to fix - what’s the best way to go about to get this fixed and most cost efficient for a new home owner.

Thank you in advance.

If that is on a slab you will need to open up the wall opposite the drain end of the tub to get access to repair.

thank you....just may be an issue as it’s kitchen cabinet on the opposite wall and a tight cabinet at that.

any idea how much it may cost to have the tub and elbow drain replaced? ....the tub is a little old and I wouldn’t mind replacing it before selling the home

Somewhere between $3000 and $15000. You have to remember that a tub is set before the walls and floor are. There is also a big variance in pricing depending on what the new surround is finished with, and what valves and shower hardware are installed.
