I have a ridgid k-375 drain machine. Its quite a few years old but the guts still work great. I have bent the cable several times over the years and now its all twisted inside the drum. I looked at replacement cables from ridgid and they are very expensive. Has anyone ever put a generic i.e. brass craft or similar cable from home depot in one of these drain cleaning machines. I am aware I would loose the capabilities of switching tips and just be stuck with a bulb tip and am also also aware that it doesnt have an internal wire along the cable. Just looking for something to get me by for a bit. I am also a DIY, not doing this commercially, or anything on a daily basis. Thanks!

Nobody who uses it for "serious drain cleaning" would even consider it.
