I have the ole 1"1/2 tub drain and code is 2" for a shower only. I ran across a post sometime back where someone stated the IAPMO changed and if replacing an existing tub with shower the existing 1"1/2 drain was now acceptable. And as long it is NOT new construction (hence the existing part).
I would love to change it to 2" but there is a finished ceiling underneath and it would require removing a whole lot of it to go all the way to stack.
Can someone point me to where it states this in the IAPMO I cannot find it.
