I am replacing my toilet flange. Old one was rusted and screws wouldn't hold.
Existing is: 4" PVC drain pipe in concrete slab. Flange was PVC and fit inside the 4" pipe.

I researched on how to change rusted toilet flange and settled on replacing the whole flange instead of just replacing the ring. I was successful in using an oscillating tool and screwdriver to get the old flange out, except one small piece of the 4" pvc came out with the flange. It goes about 1-1/4" down. Is this a big problem or will it be fine just to install the new flange since it will extend below the broken area? I also found a long shank flange from Jones Stephens that goes 2" further down (6" long shank). Should I use the longer shank flange? Or is that too long and too difficult to get into the existing 4" pipe? Any advice would be helpful.

Thanks!
