Replacing Plastic Ice Maker Water Line

Hi,

The clear plastic water line to my fridge ice maker developed a leak midway through the line, so I'm trying to change it out to a braided stainless steel line.

I'm not able to pull the plastic line out of the fridge's water intake connection easily. How hard should I pull this? Thanks for any advice.

The plastic line is now tearing at the connection. Anything else that can be done?

The line has now torn and I'm trying to figure out how to get that plastic piece (ferrule?) out.

Nevermind - got the little bugger out with pliers.
