I have had hard time to replace my old Delta tub spout. The current copper stub out nipple is 2 3/4" long from the wall. I bought a Danco universal tub spout, but couldn't install it yet. It seems that I will have to remove a mental adaptor from the current copper nipple to use the new one, but can't turn it around at all. Can I get any tip on how to remove it or to choose any alternative replacement option with bronze color?

For that fitting I would pick up another Delta spout.
To remove that you will need to heat it with a torch, which is doable. That has been soldered on.

Does this one appeal to you? https://www.deltafaucet.com/bathroom/product/RP77091RB

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-O...-Spout-in-Venetian-Bronze-RP43161RB/203621634 ? EDIT: not suitable-- does not use the adapter. Adding this in the edit: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-O...-Spout-in-Venetian-Bronze-RP43161RB/203621634

Or do you want one with no diverter which offers two different version of "bronze"? https://www.homedepot.com/p/Delta-T...Spout-in-Champagne-Bronze-RP77350CZ/308737707

Suffix RB would be on the spouts of the darker bronze you may want.

Delta tub spouts that would work with the brass adapter are the "Orleans" tub spout Delta Faucet RP43161RB Orleans Diverter Tub Spout, Venetian Bronze or Delta Leland Tub Spout RP42915
