Sometimes you will need to replace an outside hosebib. The one in thise pictures is from a 1959 home in Bellevue. The home has galvanized piping.
For whatever reason, the shutoff here is barely threaded onto to the galvanized pipe nipple. I reached in and pulled it out without tools. Yes, I'm just that strong.
Okay, maybe it was barely threaded on.
After removing the old pipes, I was able to reinstall with Uponor PEX and fittings.
To remove the old pipe that was still there after pulling out the bad pipe by hand, I got a water spray bottle from the van, and a torch. Heating the 90 elbow with torch, and then using two pipe wrenches it easily came out.
