So my dad decided to replace the pump in the well and after putting the new one in it won't stay on. if you hold the lever up on the pressure switch it will pump until you drop the switch and then it shuts off, he has replaced that pressure switch. He also said he has 30 psi in the tank. Could it be wired wrong?

What pressure does the pressure gauge get to before he releases the lever?

How much water can be used after the pump shuts off?

Your precharge air in the pressure tank may be too high. So if your pressure switch is 30/50 psi for example, precharge air should be 28.
