Hello,
What's the best way to repair nicked underground irrigation wires? Is there possibly a special tape to use? I was replacing a faulty valve, and noticed a couple of the wires had been scraped by a shovel. The insulation was gone in a few places, exposing the bare wire.

Thanks!

The voltage for irrigation systems is 24 volts ac. You can buy low voltage underground wire for irrigation or lighting by the foot at HD. Cut out the bad section and splice in the new wire with waterproof wire nuts. These have dielectric silicone grease inside of them. These can be bured without additional protection.
