Hi! I am demoing my walk-in shower in preparation for pros to come and retile it. They will use a Wedi Fundo pan and Wedi backer board. My question is about the easiest way to remove the old foam pan. I've removed the tile and sill and I can see the form (curb and floor). I dug through the foam in one spot and it looks like it is sitting on (glued to?) cement. At least it looks that way, unless I am hitting some liner or backing on the foam.

I was planning on sawing sections and then digging/chiseling them out - is there a better way to do it? Thanks for any advice!

To remove the old foam shower pan, cut it into smaller sections with a saw or multi-tool to make it easier to handle. Use a chisel or pry bar to lift the pieces, and tap gently with a hammer if it’s stuck. Scrape off any leftover glue, and if there’s a liner underneath, take that out too since the new Wedi system will have its own waterproofing. Once it’s all removed, clean the area so it’s ready for the new shower pan.

Thanks! I managed to cut out the foam and am left with an glued-on bottom layer that is resistant to my attempts to scrape it. I tried a hard adhesive scraping blade on the multitool but succeeded only in gouging at the subfloor and didn't want to damage that. I was able to pull the mesh part out of one section but don't have other edges of that to pull on. I guess I can assume the team coming in will have ways to deal with this!
