I have what appears to be a 1.75" OD galv pipe leaded into my iron stack. The stack fitting appears to be 3.75" OD. I would like to remove this and run 2" pvc from a shower drain to the stack, but I have no idea what I will find inside this stack fitting if I pull out the lead and pipe or if there is a Fernco with which I can make the new junction.... Can anyone help out? Thanks!

The lead can be drilled and pried out. Behind the lead, is a rope like substance called oakum.
Remove that and insert a Fernco "donut". The new 2" will push into that.
I like to bevel the end of the pipe, and lube it with liquid soap.

This was for a 4" hub. I used a 4x3 flush bush on this install.

It's similar, but you will of course be using 2"
