Hi all,

It’s been a week or two when my partner pour out a liter of motor gas in the toilet to dispose it. Since then the gas smell reeks from the toilet to the whole house. Weve tried various ways to remove the smell like: detergent, limes, clothes conditioner, apple cider, vinegar, salt. Everything are just temporary solution. After a few hours, the smell just comes back.

My last resort is to buy baking soda and mix it with hot water and pour it into the toilet bowl and see if it will work.

Anyone of you have solve this problem before?

Edit: I would really appreciate any inputs.

Internet wisdom seems to indicate that a dilute mixture of white vinegar in combination with baking soda in very hot water (50C+) may work.

Thanks for sending this link. I’d agree that this is a once in a lifetime mistake for people.

Based on the comments from reddit, I can try maple syrup. We will try the baking soda first, if it doesnt help, we will then proceed with the syrup. I hope it will work out, either way Ill keep this thread updated.

Weve temporarily detached the pipe to have the air released the gas. We’ve also put an antibacterial soap in a net and put it inside the toilet water tank. The smell gradually reduce yesterday. Today we mixed vinegar and baking soda. Poured it to the toilet and then added boiling water.

The smell is all gone now.

Thank you so much everyone for the help!
