Moving my washing machine about 20 feet from current location and replacing old unit with high efficiency front loader. I am reading that a 2-inch standpipe, p-trap, and drain is required in many states for these front loading machines (assuming due to increased pump discharge rate). My state (MA) does not require 2-inch washer drain components (standpipe, P-trap, etc).
My current drain (which only serves the washer) that I plan to tie into is 1.5 inch; so wondering if there is any merit to using 2-inch for the new drain prior to connecting to the existing 1.5 inch to improve draining capacity/reduce chances of a backup?
Thanks in advance.
