Refrigerator Water Supply Valve at Wrong Angle

I just had a new refrigerator delivered and a new braided water line was included for the ice maker. My water supply valve is angled about 45 degrees off center. The old refrigerator used plastic tubing, which had a smaller connector that fit fine onto this valve. The new refrigerator came with a braided supply hose which has a longer connector. Due to the length of this connector and the off center water valve, I can't attach the braided line to this valve.

Can I just get a couple of wrenches and turn the water valve slightly counter clockwise or is this likely to cause the valve/pipe connection to leak? If not what solutions are there. Thanks in advance.

Or you could notch the plastic trim plate with a small saw.

There is no way for us to tell HOW the valve is connected to the piping. If it is soldered, you will twist the piping if you try to rotate the valve.

Thanks Terry and hj. I gave a brief attempt at turning the valve but was too worried I would damage it or cause leaks. Instead, I just notched it out as you suggested. Thanks for your help and suggestion.
