Recirculation loop and white powder buildup

We re-modeled our house in 2016 and had all the plumbing re-done and had a recirculation loop installed that goes to the kitchen sink and the upstairs master bathroom so that we could get hot water quicker. I was looking under the master bathroom sink today and noticed this white and green buildup on the hot and cold shut off valves. I checked the other two bathrooms in the house (which are not on the loop) and they look fine, no buildup. I checked under the kitchen sink and noticed it starting to happen but not nearly as much as the master bathroom. I also went out to the garage and found buildup on the recirculating pump itself.

What could cause this? What should I do? Unplug the pump until I can get a plumber out here to figure out what's going on?

Edit: The house is also on a water softening system.
