I have replaced the resin/gravel in water softeners where the head unscrews from one large hole at the top of the tank -- makes removal and installation of the resin/gravel straightforward. No problems here.
However, I am now trying to replace the resin/gravel in a Culligan Mark 89 water softener. When this type of head is removed, there are two small holes at the top of the tank -- makes removal and installation of the resin/gravel MUCH more difficult. My best guess is that getting the old resin/gravel out and then getting the new resin/gravel back in will require some kind of power flush and lots of patience.
Has anyone actually changed the resin/gravel in a Culligan Mark 89? Any tips will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Hoyt
