Hello. I'm attempting to install a range hood over my stove. The vent duct cannot go up, but I can go straight to the side through a soffit that connects to a small attic space above a utility room. The only problem is that I have a gas supply line right in the way. I can squeeze the vent beside it without pinching anything, but it's definitely going to touch the gas pipe.

Is it okay to have a range hood vent duct touch a gas line? I might be able to put a piece of foam or something between them.

I can't seem to find a code that mentions this.

Thank you for your advice.
