Question about water tube

Hi,

I was wondering, why do hot water dispensers need 1/4 inlet water tube vs 3/8.

My guess it's to limit the amount of low flow GPM (gallons per minute) volume, if too much water rushed through that dispenser too quick, it won't have enough time to heat up.

And won't be mixed up with the other 3/8" supply pipes underneath all there.

Does any of this change your decision to get one installed or not?
