In my infinite wisdom, I managed to strip a gate valve at my mom's house. It's stuck almost completely closed and the cold water is just a trickle.
I'd rather not sweat a new valve right now because it's very tight and it's also part of a set of maybe six gate valves/four circuits that I'd like to replace in one go a month from now.
My question is, can I take apart the valve and either remove the gate, or screw it in by force so it isn't closed, then reassemble the valve? Or would doing that likely result in the valve leaking a bunch anyway?
