5 hours after turning on my sprinklers and getting them running, a huge leak developed in the 1" pvc line that is feeding my valves. It flooded my basement bedroom through a windows well.
Before digging, it looked like water was shooting out of the left side of this tee (main line side). But after digging, when I turned the water on the elbo joint completely blew open.
This system was installed by a sprinkler company and had been working for 13 years. Why would a pvc joint fail like this? Anything to do with freezing?
What is the best way to fix it? Buy a hub reamer, replace the section between the L and the tee (using the reamer on the tee)?
Or does the whole thing need replace because joints are at end of life or something? Do I need to check my pressure?
