Hello, I am having a recurring problem with my water pump. Its a Goulden Jet Pump. For the fourth time we woke up to no water. The first time this happened, I turned off the main electrical breaker and when I turned it back on the pump kicked right on too. Since then that method hasnt worked. Once it just kicked on by itself with no action on my part. Once I left the house for the weekend and came back on Sunday, flipped the power switch and it came back on.

It doesnt have a reset switch in the control box. I dont understand why this keeps happening, and its starting to get frustrating what with not knowing how or when it will decide to turn on again. Any advice? So far we havent needed to pay for a professional as it seemingly "resolves" itself when it wants to.

Hello Amy, Welcome to Terry's Forum.

You might want to look for a loose Electrical connection, On the pump pressure switch and the Breaker that controls the pumps power.

Also if the contacts on the pressure switch are pitted or burnt, that could cause the problem that you describe.

Just make sure to turn the power off when checking or changing the switch.

Good Luck on your project.

Have a Great Day.

If the above suggestions don't rectify the problem, it could be a bad wire splice, leaking wire, bad overload in the motor or the motor just going bad. These can be tested with an ohm meter, volt meter/amprobe. You may be looking at having to pull the pump.
