Pump losing prime

I have a shallow well jet pump that loses prime overnight.

If I put a pressure gauge on the suction side of the pump before the check valve should I have the same pressure reading there as on the tank gauge?

System will hold 50 lbs psi overnight on the tank gauge.

How does one test the suction line for a leak?
