What is the bet way to pull the old 1 1/2 in.well pipe of a 25 ft. shallow well that has been in the ground for 30 years?

pulling a 25 ft. 1 1/2 in. shallow well pipe

How can we pull the pipe because we have limited access on soft ground and we cannot drive up to the site.

I know, you really want another way to magically appear that takes no effort, doesn't mess up the yard, or cause any work, or effort, but.... A backhoe or pump hoist truck pulling straight up is about it.

Backhoes don't get stuck very easily but, if one or a pump hoist truck can't be driven to the well, then abandon the well properly and drill another where that won't be a problem in the future; like out by the curb maybe.

But if you can figure a way other than my suggestions, have at it. Just post how you did it so others can learn. Pictures would be nice too.

pulling pipe from a shallow well

The galvanized pipe that was installed 30 years ago would be nice to have it pulled because of a probable air leak and the new pipe installed in the same hole. We are not drilling a new well but will be driving a new shallow well. Since the last water level with the old pipe is a about 24 ft., maybe it would be better to abandon it and find another site a little closer to the lake with a lower elevation. If you have a method for pulling the old pipe please feel free to join in. Is there any disadvantage of putting the new shallow well much lower in elevation and then using a half HP jet pump to pump the water up the hill 250 ft. about 40 ft. higher in elevation from where he well is installed ?

I am not a shallow well guy but,how about build a tri-pod a little higher than the shortest length of pipe in the hole.I think shallow wells use shorter sections.Pull it up as far as you can with a pully and winch, cut or unscrew and go again till you are there.Easy deal.........Upper
