Hello,

I am having a water softener installed and my plumber insists on installing a Pro Series softener. From what I understand in is an all in one system with no separate tank for the salt. I am unable to find any information on this brand of softener. Is there anyone that has had experience with this brand?

Thanks.

There appears to be more than one entity using that name. http://www.proserieswatertreatment.com/products/

This is the all-in-one kind you don't want: http://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/-proseries-big-boss-softener/0000000006960 That is Proseries as one word.

Pro Series is also used by Clack for one or more of their controllers. That is probably what is going on here. You could find info on some systems that use the Clack WS1 controller. I am going to message you with an example. Click Inbox above. Note that while that particular seller will sell other brands farther away, they only sell those within their hands-on service area.

They require that the controller goes in as part of a system, and that it not be ordered by a consumer directly. They won't sell parts to consumers, although parts are available via http://www.softenerparts.com/default.asp and maybe others. They also don't want the sellers to call them Clack WS1 systems.

The Clack WS1 controllers are well-respected, and many sellers like that Clack will not sell directly to consumers nor will they allow their sellers to ship systems to their customers. It tends to make future repairs or modifications to be continuing business.

If you want to find a plumber who would be glad to put in an Fleck controller based system, I am confident that you can do so.

All in one systems are attractive but not recommended. Tank next to tank designs are far simpler to service, offer much larger system capacities and therefore higher efficiencies. Avoid "Cabinet" style units.
