Hello,

Just a bit of history. I moved into this house and tried to get the existing jet pump working for irrigation purposes. No go, I had the pump cleaned and check by a pump specialist and they assured me the pump is in good health. The pump is inside the house and I replaced all fittings (The interior parts were very corroded) and CLEAR tubing from the pump to the reserve tank. I have not verified the foot valve at the end of the 1" black flexible tubing in the lake yet and all faucets are closed

Here is what I do not understand, I keep pouring water at the top of the pump until full. Start the pump and the water disappears. I repeat the process several times and the clear tubing shows the water leaving. I run the pump only 30 seconds.

This is all new to me as I moved in from the city and not entirely knowledgeable with jet pumps. I read elsewhere to I should run the pump
until its warm yet concerned since I see the water draining in the clear tubing.

Where is the water going if all valves are closed? If that were the case, sooner or later it would run out of space. Is there a bladder tank on the system? If so, have you verified that it is properly precharged?

You need to run the pump longer than 30 seconds and at some point you need to let the excess air out. Often that is done by loosening the pressure gauge a little.

How much water is the pump able to take? It may help to put the water in the system at a higher entry point.

The line to the foot valve needs to be full of water, And

You need to plug your prime fill port after it is full, before you start the pump.

Good Luck.
