I currently have a 40 gallon Richmond power vent water heater. I am planning on replacing it with a 50 gallon power vent water heater. The existing heater has a pvc transition that connects to water heater and then 4" galvanized duct up about 24" and connect to a B vent elbow and the runs about 15' to an elbow and turns out the wall to a vent termination outside.

My question is that the new water heater has a connection for a 2" pvc pipe. Do I just install in the same manner and put in a 4"x2" pvc reducer to connect the pvc to the galvanized duct up to the B vent?

I have attached a picture of the existing water heater vent connection.

Brand and model number of new heater. If its condensing w heater has to be pvc all the way out. Install.manual will have what the manufacturer wants.

The model is a Richmond 6GR50PVE2-42, purchased at Menards. It is not condensing water heater. The directions do really state anything other than to visually inspect the existing vent.
