Plumbers drilled large hole in top of girder, is this a problem?

I am have a room addition built and noticed today the plumber drill a large hole at the top edge of the 4 x 6 girder that supports the floor joists. Is this bad? If so, is there a way to fix it?

You may want to add support there if that was for support. How long a span is that? And what is it over?

The span is about 6” over the crawl space.
