I want to replace the old tablet feeder on the well with a liquid system in the basement. Stenner pump or similar. There are several online feed calculators in addition to the Stenner manual, but I get mixed up when I look at their total consumption. I plan to inject after the pressure tank, then use a retention tank, then on to distribution. I plan to use a proportional system based on a flow meter after the pressure tank. Part of my confusion is that the calculators assume 24 hrs/day operation. According to the meter on my softener, I average 100 gal/day. Wow, that means my well pump only runs 20 minutes/day, approximately. That means the Cl system would run very little. If I cut household bleach 1:6 I'll get 0.875% in my dose solution. If I treat my water at 2.3 ppm Cl, that means that I'll only use 9.6 gallons of treat solution PER YEAR. If my meter is set on 1 pulse/gallon, the pump (3 gal/day max) will be set about 76%.
Obviously, a 10 gal Cl batch is not going to stay good for a year. I would think mixing every 3 months would make sense. If I'm not all wet, I guess that means making smaller batches and measuring bleach with a cup rather than gallon. I can't increase the dilution rate with the pump controller already at 76%. What's going on here? finally showing my age?

my data as above plus Cl conc 0.875%, 3 gpm max pump head, 1 pulse/gal meter, 10 sec max PCM cycle gives 1.89 gal/day Cl solution, but that's for a 24 hr day. I won't run anything close to 24 hr.
