I've seen the Marathon plastic hot water heater and have been intrigued by its purported long life. I also noticed it's made from polybutylene. I know PB piping was known for failures. Does this same risk apply to a hot water tank made of the same material?
Also, are there any health issues with hot water sitting in a plastic tank, such as leaching of chemicals from the plastic into the water over time (particularly because the water is being held in a hot state)?
Thanks for any insights or educated opinions on these questions...
