In working in my furnace/utility room I noticed that some recently installed 1/2" copper pipe carrying hot water is secured to a piece of 1 x 6 by black plastic cable clamps. How durable are these clamps? Perhaps the jury is still out if they are relatively new?

I can see the downside to using galvanized clamps unless they are insulated from the copper with black electrical tape because of the outside chance of galvanic corrosion, but my guess is that this would take much longer to show up than loss of the plasticizer from the plastic and the resulting embrittlement.

Any wisdom based on experience?

thanks
